Sono un fotografo d’arte. Psicoanalista di professione.
Fotografo tendenzialmente in bianco e nero, ma passo al colore ogni volta che riesco a vedere il colore come uno dei “personaggi” significativi presenti nella foto.
Fotografia e psicoanalisi sono in realtà più vicine di come a prima vista non si immaginerebbe, in quanto a volte usano gli stessi strumenti. Tra questi, la permeabilità alle sensazioni, l’interesse per i dettagli, la capacità di avere visioni che riorganizzano in modo nuovo e originale la realtà, la capacità di sentirsi in empatia con la situazione. Per fotografare devo essere solo ed entrare in uno stato sognante che mi fa vedere ciò che prima non c’era.
Tra i fotografi che guardo sempre con grande sorpresa ci sono Cartier-Bresson, Scianna e Tillmans.

I am an art photographer. By profession, I am a psychoanalyst.
I tend to take black and white pictures but I turn to colour whenever I happen to see colour as one of the meaningful “characters” present in an image.
Photography and psychoanalysis are actually closer than one would think at first sight. In fact, sometimes the same techniques are used, such as being open to feelings; being interested in detail; ability to develop visions that re-organise reality in an original new way; getting involved in a situation. In order to take a photograph, I must be alone and get into a dreamy state which allows me to see things that were not there before.
Among the photographers who always manage to surprise me are: Cartier-Bresson, Scianna and Tillmans.
Premi fotografici
Nel 2010 ho ricevuto una speciale menzione al concorso fotografico internazionale indetto dalla ditta di design Thonet.
Nel 2009 ho ricevuto una speciale menzione al concorso fotografico de L’Europeo “Godless America”.
Nel 2007 ho vinto il primo premio del concorso fotografico indetto dall’editore Feltrinelli “Le tue foto e le tue parole sull’India”.
Photography prizes
In 2010 I was awarded an honourable mention at the international photography contest set up by the Thonet design company.
In 2009 I was awarded an honourable mention at the photography contest “Godless America” set up by the magazine “L’Europeo”.
In 2007 I was awarded the first prize in the photographic contest “Your Pictures and Words on India” organised by the publisher Feltrinelli.
Altre esperienze fotografiche
Per alcuni anni fino al 2013 ho scritto regolarmente contributi di critica fotografica per la Rivista di Psicoanalisi. Si trattava di brevi “finestre” in cui presentavo dei lavori di fotografi che formalmente si richiamavano al campo d’interesse della psicoanalisi clinica per esplorare come la fotografia possa parlare, in “fotografese”, anche agli psicoanalisti.
Dal 2006 al 2008 ho fatto parte dei fotografi del Milano Film Festival, organizzato da Esterni.
Other photographic activities
For a few years until 2013 I regularly contributed critical essays on photography to the Italian “Rivista di Psicoanalisi”. They were placed in brief “boxes” and consisted in the presentation of works by photographers which were somehow connected to some themes treated in the field of clinical psychoanalysis. These essays showed how the concepts expressed in “Photographese” could be of interest to psychoanalysts.
From 2006 to 2008 I was part of the team of photographers of the Milano Film Festival, organised by Esterni.
